An 'instant' Aadhaar-based PAN allotment service for individuals has been launched by the Income Tax Department. A recent advisory from the Income Tax Department states that "This facility is free of cost and instant allotment of e-PAN is available only for a limited period on first-come-first-serve basis for valid Aadhaar holders. A fresh PAN will be allotted on the basis of a one-time password (OTP) sent over the active mobile number linked with the valid Aadhaar number of a person. The new PAN, obtained by this mechanism, will have the same name, date of birth, gender, mobile number and address that is present in the individual's Aadhaar. The e-PAN facility is only for resident individuals and not for Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), firms, trusts and companies etc."
Process to apply for Instant Adhaar-based PAN
To apply PAN via this process, you have to visit official portal of the department --https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. On the lefe side menubar you will get an option "Instant e-PAN", clicking on it will lend you to the application page where you have to fill all the details correctly. If your details in Aadhaar are not correct or updated, you should update the same in UIDAI prior to applying for the e-PAN.
This facility has been introduced to help people applying to obtain the Permanent Account Number (PAN).
